Majority Republicans in the Legislature want to spend an additional 500 million dollars on public schools over the next two years.
That’s 900 million less than Governor Evers is proposing. The increase would also be lower than the nearly 640 million in the last two-year budget under former Republican Governor Scott Walker.
The plan from Republicans includes an extra 50 million for special education compared to the more than 600 million proposed by Evers.
