Oshkosh police caught an escaped prisoner yesterday afternoon on the west side.
They say 55-year-old Martin Fitzgerald was at Ascension’s Mercy Hospital, and he took off, after attacking a state corrections officer.
Police caught him about 45 minutes later. They say he tried to steal a car in the 2100 block of W. 9th Avenue.
Fitzgerald was convicted of killing his girlfriend in 2007, and he’s serving a 35-year prison sentence.
