The annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Appleton gets underway this morning.
Organizer Eric Stadler says they’re going to start the procession at College Avenue and Appleton Street at 9 a.m. He says the route ends at Riverside Cemetery, and they’ll hold a ceremony there.
Appleton East senior Erin Gretzinger was picked to be the keynote speaker. She’s going to talk about what Memorial Day means to her.
The parade will follow College Avenue, Meade Street, and Pacific Street to the cemetery.
In Oshkosh, a ceremony starts at 7 a.m. at South Park, with the reading of names of local service members killed in the line of duty.
There will be a wreath laying in the Fox River, near the Main Street Bridge, at 8 a.m., and a procession from Jackson Street and Algoma Boulevard to Riverside Cemetery, at 9 a.m.
