Some local firefighters are putting their own spin on a national fitness challenge to honor a fallen friend.
Firefighters from Appleton and the Town of Harrison participated in Kakauna’s Murph Challenge. It’s a test of strength to honor those killed in action.
Mitch Lundgaard was shot and killed on a medical call earlier this month. Appleton Lt. Greg Cullen says he was in the middle of a workout right before he left for that call so they’re finishing the rest for him. He says the amount of support from the community has been great.
Today’s event also raised money for Lundgaard’s wife and three children.
