There’s a new name on the Omro Veterans Memorial.
Gloria Redlin of the Town of Utica didn’t serve in the military. She was a civilian nurse helping hurt Vietnamese people.
Memorial President Rick Deiss says her name was lost when they first designed the memorial. He thinks it’s gratifying because she died serving her country, and she deserved to be honored.
34-year-old Redlin was shot in 1970 while riding her scooter to the hospital where she worked in Vietnam. She died a week later.
Her plaque faces the third panel in the memorial that lists the names of 15 local veterans killed in action.
