On this Memorial Day, two organizations are kicking off a project to honor veterans and upgrade Soldiers Square in downtown Appleton.
Alex Schultz of Sculpture Valley says they’re going to sell brick pavers from the Hearthstone Historic House Museum for $40. People can engrave the name of a military veteran on them, and they plan to place them in Soldiers Square.
The $40 cost will be divided evenly between the engraving costs, a fund for Soldiers Square, Hearthstone, and a donation to the VA clinic in the Appleton area.
Schultz hopes to move the Spanish-American War memorial in Pierce Park, back to Soldiers Square.
