Menasha police say a child is safe and a man is in custody, after a long standoff at a home.
Officer Nick Oleszak says officers went to the 800 block of Fifth Street around midnight when a woman called 911.
Police say she told dispatchers her young child and the father were in the house. She said the man was becoming increasingly upset and he had a gun.
Oleszak says officers got her away from the scene and started to talk with him, but it didn’t go well.
The standoff ended around 10:45 a.m.
Police were seen carrying a girl under two away from the home.
Oleszak says the man decided to put the girl by a window, and an officer brought her to safety. He says no shots were fired during the standoff.
