The state’s longest serving governor thinks Governor Evers and Majority Republicans in the Legislature need to get together, and hammer out a budget deal.
Former Republican governor Tommy Thompson had to work with Democrats, when they were in control of the Assembly or Senate at various times. He was on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning. He advises Governor Evers to regularly meet with Republicans to find a middle ground.
Thompson says it doesn’t help to be in the press pointing fingers, and arguing that the other side has it all wrong.
Majority Republicans on the Legislature’s budget committee are working on the two-year plan, after Governor Evers proposed his version in February.
