The suspect in last week’s standoff in Menasha is now facing formal charges.
Winnebago County prosecutors are filing counts of failing to comply with police and domestic disorderly conduct against 35-year-old Christopher Walsh. They say he held his 15-month-old daughter in a house in the 800 block of Fifth Street for several hours. He’s also accused of threatening to shoot police.
Prosecutors say an officer thought Walsh was high or on drugs. When police went to the house they say the girl’s mother told them he pulled out a gun after accusing her of trying to poison the toddler. They say Walsh’s brother was involved in a similar situation in Florida two or three years ago. They say the brother was on meth and he was involved with the death of a two-month-old child.
Walsh eventually turned over the girl and surrendered.
