When it comes to crashes between cars and deer, right now is the second most dangerous time of the year on Wisconsin roads.
DNR wildlife biologist Jeff Pritzl explains that’s because does have new young ones to take care of so last years fawns are getting the message that it’s time to be on their own.
He warns drivers to be extra diligent, especially at dawn and dusk.
DOT statistics show close to 4,000 deer are hit by cars in May and June.
Those numbers are right behind the mating season in late October and November.
