An 11-month-old boy died, hours after he was rescued from a home on Green Bay’s northeast side.
Battalion Chief Dave Kolz says crews were called to a home in the 2500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, off East Shore Drive around 7:30 p.m. He says one assistant fire chief tried to enter the room the child was in, but it was too hot to enter.
Kolz says they got the boy out of a second-story bedroom through a window.
Six people were able to get out on their own. They were all taken to a hospital to get checked out. A 20-year-old woman is in stable condition.
Kolz says the fire started in the bedroom where the child was staying.
The damage is estimated at $75,000. The cause is under investigation.
