The first school year is now in the books for the new leader of the Oshkosh district.
Last Friday was the final day for students. Superintendent Vickie Cartwright says she didn’t expect to have such rough winter weather with so many days cancelled because of snow or frigid temperatures. She came to Oshkosh from Orlando, Florida. She says she came from an area where she’s used to dealing with hurricanes and tropical storms. She says the planning is similar, but it still took her by surprise.
Cartwright believes there were plenty of positive things happening throughout the school year. She’s encouraged by the interactions between teachers, staff, and students. Cartwright says she even noticed custodians reaching out to students and trying to be mentors.
