A Republican lawmaker from Appleton is encouraged that planning could start soon on an expansion of I-41.
Senate President Roger Roth says the Legislature’s budget committee want to put the plans between the Fox Cities and De Pere on a list of major projects. He says they told him this project stands a good chance against others in the state for future funding. He’s confident with studies and other preparation they can get it funded.
Roth says they’re also proposing to spend about $6 million on the early plans including an environmental study. There could still be changes because Governor Evers would have to keep the project in the final version of the budget.
