Two redevelopment projects in downtown Appleton are moving forward.
Both are in the same block on the east end of College Avenue.
A former bank will be torn down, next to the History Museum at the Castle, and a six-story building will go in its place. The other development will be on the site of three buildings behind Heid Music. They’ll be replaced with multi-family housing.
Community Development Director Karen Harkness expects demolition will begin in the coming weeks. She says it will depend on having contractors in place, and the weather.
The city council signed off on development agreements last week.
There are some TIF incentives from the city. Both projects will include housing, and Harkness says that meets their goal of having more people living downtown.
