A Republican lawmaker thinks the push by women to get the right to vote got momentum going.
Representative Jesse Rodriguez of Oak Creek spoke at the Capitol today to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wisconsin’s ratification of the 19th Amendment. She says back then women couldn’t own land or have custodial rights of their children. She says the right to vote was the cornerstone upon which all basic rights were built on. She’s glad women led the effort and didn’t falter.
Wisconsin was the first state in the country to ratify the amendment that gave women the right to vote.
