The City of Oshkosh is going to use a grant to get several sites ready for redevelopment.
Community Development Director Allen Davis says they’re primarily looking at old industrial sites in the Sawdust District, near the south shore of the Fox River. He says they need to find out what chemicals are in the soil before redevelopment starts.
He says they picked out about five sites along Main Street, south of the Main Street bridge.
The EPA is providing $300,000.
Davis thinks some projects will cost a few thousand, but others may be closer to $50,000 or $60,000.
He expects they’ll start work later this year, and it could continue over the next few years.
Calumet County and Green Bay are getting similar grants.
