Governor Evers is officially bringing back pardons in the state.
The governor creating a board to make recommendations on whether to wipe certain criminal charges from someone’s record.
Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh says some people make mistakes early on and then turn their lives around. He believes they can be productive members of society if they’re given a chance. He thinks Evers has put together a board that will weigh each case fairly. Hintz says it’s part of Evers’ comprehensive corrections reform in the state.
Hintz says pardons could also help fill the labor shortage in the state.
Former Governor Scott Walker didn’t issue any pardons during his eight years in office.
