Construction starts today on one of the busiest streets on Appleton’s south side.
Outagamie County crews will be working on Calumet Street for the next two months.
Highway Commissioner Dean Steingraber says they’re closing one lane in each direction between Telulah Avenue and Kensington Drive. He says they’ll fill in potholes and fix the bad concrete to make a smoother ride for everyone.
They’re also going to build a longer right-turn lane for drivers heading east on Calumet Street and turning onto Highway 441 South. Steingraber says there’s a lot of congestion in that area and hopefully that will help.
The project also includes fixing concrete on John Street from Calumet Street to Matthias Street. That part of John Street wasn’t redone three years ago.
