Firefighters in Appleton were one of nearly 25 departments across the state to help staff fire stations in Madison yesterday.
They were there so colleagues could attend the funeral of a firefighter who died during a triathlon last week.
Firefighter Todd Mahoney died after having a medical issue during the swimming portion of an Ironman.
Several Madison firefighters came to the area last month to work during the funeral for Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard.
Mahoney was the second person to die during the swimming portion of that Ironman.
