A new group is fighting to end the UW System tuition freeze.
The board members of Badgers United include former baseball commissioner and Milwaukee Brewers owner Bud Selig and John and Tasha Morgridge. The Morgridges have donated millions of dollars to UW-Madison.
Republican lawmakers have kept the freeze in place since 2013. Governor Evers extended it in his proposed budget.
He’s also asking for $127 million in additional funding for the UW System. Majority Republicans on the Legislature’s budget committee scaled it back to $58 million.
