A tradition on Appleton’s south side is returning.
Volunteers are planting flowers along the Marigold Mile, after a nearly two-year break for construction along Oneida Street.
Organizer Joe Sturm of Fox Valley Nursery says it feels good to be back. He says they are three weeks behind schedule because of rainy weather, but he hopes to have the project finished in early July.
Sturm says they put in 400 to 500 plants yesterday.
In all, they’ll need about 8,000 Marigolds to finish the entire stretch, from the Oneida Skyline Bridge to Calumet Street.
He says they’re looking for more volunteers.
