Two blocks of Appleton Street in downtown Appleton are expected to become a two-way road later today.
Crews plan to finish painting the lane markers this morning. The single blocks north and south of College Avenue have been one-way for years.
City spokesman Chad Doran understands there will be an adjustment for drivers. He hopes people will appreciate the ability to go north and south through the downtown without needing to take side streets.
The bridge work to the south isn’t expected to be finished until the fall. The two-way switch was one of the main recommendations from a traffic study.
