The new two-way stretch of Appleton Street in downtown Appleton is opening early this afternoon, but work on the bridge to the south will continue for several months.
The city is eliminating a curve for drivers heading north into the downtown, so they’ll be able to go straight onto Appleton Street.
City spokesman Chad Doran says that part of the project probably won’t be done until mid-October.
He says the other half of the bridge should be ready in mid-July. He says drivers will be able to head south head south out of the downtown, and onto the Oneida Skyline Bridge.
The new two-way stretch of Appleton Street also has bike lanes.
