There’s some pushback on a proposal to raise permit rates by $10 a month at the parking ramps in downtown Appleton.
Right now the permits cost $30 a month. The municipal services committee deadlocked on the idea on a two-to-two vote yesterday afternoon.
Jennifer Stephany is the executive director of Appleton Downtown Incorporated. She says the increase is pretty drastic for a lot of businesses.
A proposal for a $5 hike next year and another $5 increase in 2021 didn’t get enough support from the committee.
The city is looking to raise revenue to maintain the parking ramps. The city council will have to make the final decision.
