A former teacher at Little Chute High School is going to prison for five years for repeatedly sexually assaulting a former student.
A jury convicted 46-year-old Jason LaVigne in April, and he was sentenced in Outagamie County court this afternoon.
He was accused of rubbing up against the student in 1999 and asking her to have sexual contact with him. She was a 14-year-old freshman at the time.
Prosecutors say she came forward in 2009, and talked with a school counselor. They say the school didn’t report the accusations to police.
LaVinge will spend 11 years on probation as well.
He’s also facing a charge in Marinette County of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in June of last year. LaVigne is accused of giving the teen several vodka lemonades, while they were boating.
Prosecutors say he assaulted her, after stopping at a sandy beach area.
His trial in Marinette County, on a charge of third-degree sexual assault, is currently scheduled to start in September.
