A 12-year-old Kaukauna boy is dead, after drowning in a retention pond last night on the city’s north side.
The family says Dylun Tapio was releasing a turtle, with his brothers.
Kaukauna police and fire officials say crews were called an apartment complex on Lamplighter Drive, just after 9:30 p.m.
Assistant Police Chief Bradley Sanderfoot says they saw people standing around a pond with flashlights. He says they were told four boys were near the water, when three went in. All four of them were brothers.
Sanderfoot says the boy not in the water saw two of his brothers struggling, and yelled for help.
He says a mother and daughter that lived nearby jumped in the water, and saved two of the brothers.
Sanderfoot says they couldn’t find Dylun. His body was pulled from the water about an hour later by the Outagamie County Dive Team.
The other boys are seven and 11 years old.
