The Senate is expected to pass a bill today that would extend the deadline for closing the troubled Lincoln Hills youth prison.
Lawmakers agreed last year to shut it down by January of 2021.
Governor Evers says the timetable is too aggressive and it will take longer to build smaller facilities for juvenile offenders.
The bill the Senate is taking up would extend the deadline to the middle of 2021. There’s no word on whether Evers would sign or veto the bill.
