The Senate is expected to vote on the state budget today, and a Republican from De Pere is pleased that lawmakers are adding more prosecutors.
Sen. Andre Jacque helped push for the change before the Assembly approved the two-year plan last night. He says while it doesn’t completely fill the need, creating more positions will reduce stress for current prosecutors.
Outagamie and Winnebago counties will each get two more prosecutors and Brown County can add three.
Lawmakers are also setting money aside for pay raises, to help retain current assistant district attorneys.
