The parents of the Kaukauna boy pulled from a retention pond are remembering him as a bright young man.
Dylun Tapio drowned Tuesday night at an apartment complex on the north side.
Jason Tapio says his son would have turned 13 today. He says Dylun loved dinosaurs, wrestling, and drawing.
Dylun’s mother, Tia, says the boy was by the pond to help a turtle. She says the animal was trying to cross the road and Dylun asked if he could take it to the water.
Dylun’s three brothers were also at the pond when he drowned. A woman pulled two of them from the water.
