A Republican U.S. Senator from Oshkosh is calling for action after seeing a photo of a migrant father and his 23-month-old daughter dead at the southern border.
The two drowned in the Rio Grande.
Senator Ron Johnson is the chair of the homeland security committee. He says tragedies occur all over the world, but he doesn’t want to see that happen again at the U.S. border. He hopes it will motivate people to do something about the situation.
Johnson wants lawmakers to go through a problem solving process to find the root causes of the issues and solutions to them.
