The remains of three Oneida girls are back in Wisconsin after nearly 100 years.
Councilman Kirby Metoxen says in 1879 the government forcibly took about 400 Oneida children to a boarding school in Pennsylvania. He says many died from illness, including the three girls.
The bodies of Jemima Metoxen, Ophelia Powless, and Sophia Caulon are now in their final resting place in Wisconsin.
Councilman Metoxen says there are still 10 Oneida children in Pennsylvania. He hopes to bring two more back to the state next year.
