Police are crediting a De Pere bank teller with stopping what they think is a national theft ring.
Two women are in custody and charged with multiple counts of fraud and forgery in Brown County. Investigators say the women would steal checks, credit cards, and IDs. They say they would then withdraw money from drive-thru ATMs at banks.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office issued alerts in May and De Pere Officer Jedd Bradley says the teller reported seeing the vehicle.
Investigators say the women stole about $30,000 in Brown County. They believe they also committed crimes in Illinois and Indiana.
