Officials in Fox Crossing want to know if people in the village are interested in a grocery store.
They’re doing an online survey that’s open for a few more weeks.
Community development director George Dearborn says they conducted a similar survey in the past and people were interested, but they didn’t have much leverage as a town. He says there’s potential for incentives. Dearborn says it ultimately up to the village board to decide, and they have never done taxpayer financing for retail projects.
He says retail is a challenge right now and even though people are interested, they would need to change their buying habits to shop local.
