A fifth man convicted in the “Monfils 6” murder case is now out of prison.
Seventy-one-year-old Michael Johnson walked out a lower-security facility in Oneida this morning on parole. It comes about 24 hours after the release of co-defendant Rey Moore.
In 1995, Johnson, Moore and four other men were sentenced to life in prison for killing Tom Monfils at a Green Bay paper mill. Johnson and Moore served 24 years of their sentence.
Keith Kutska is the only one left in prison. He’ll be eligible for parole in 2021.
Michael Hirn was paroled last December. Dale Basten died in June of last year, nine months after being paroled for health reasons. Michael Piaskowski was released in 2001, after his conviction was overturned.
Monfiles’ body was found in a pulp vat.
