A Republican lawmaker isn’t happy that Governor Evers didn’t include plans for a new interchange along I-41 in the state budget.
The exit would connect with a future bridge over the Fox River in southern Brown County.
Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke is from Vandenbroek. He says the interchange is critical to Brown County and the economic development in that area.
The interchange was part of the I-41 expansion between the Fox Cities and the De Pere area. The overall project is still in the final budget and that gives the DOT a chance to start plans.
Evers opposed setting a specific location for the interchange. He believes the DOT and highway engineers should decide whether the exit is needed.
