Brown County’s top official is disappointed with the budget veto of the southern bridge project.
The plans called for adding an interchange along I-41 for a bridge over the Fox River.
County Executive Troy Streckenbach thinks it’s a missed opportunity. He says the uncertainty is hampering the development and economic opportunities of northeast Wisconsin.
DOT Secretary Craig Thompson says the state wants more flexibility with the interchange project. He says they want to work with engineers and local leaders to find the best solution. The rest of the I-41 expansion between the Fox Cities and De Pere remained in the budget.
