A school in Green Bay is part of a program that lets prisoners earn credits while they’re behind bars.
11 state inmates from a minimum-security facility in Oneida are working toward certificates at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
Secretary Kevin Carr is with the Department of Corrections. He thinks if the inmates are going to return to the community, it’s important to give them a way to contribute to society.
NWTC President Jeff Rafn says they also had 11 people graduate from the program last year. He says they all got jobs right away with an average wage of $18 an hour.
