It might take several years for Fox Crossing to have a train whistle ban in parts of the village.
Administrator Jeff Sturgill says they know what safety improvements they need to make at several railroad crossings. He says the village would save money by waiting until crews rebuild Irish Road in the next three to five years. One railroad line stretches from Clayton Avenue east to Winchester Road.
He says they have to work on Irish and Winchester roads to have a quiet zone approved. He says they could also get some extra safety measures if they improve other crossings.
The village started studying the crossings throughout the village about a year ago.
