There could be some changes in the number of hours truck drivers can work.
Right now they can be on the road for 11 hours in a 14-hour period. After they hit that limit they have to stop for at least 10 hours.
Local driver Jay Brockway thinks they need more flexibility. He says traffic or bad weather can hold someone up, and they might have to stop even 30 minutes away from their home just to rest.
No one in Washington D.C. is making a formal proposal but some stakeholders are talking about the possibilities. Cathy Chase of the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety thinks driver fatigue is a big issue. She believes the problem could get worse with more relaxed rules.
