The shipping season is going well so far at the Port of Green Bay.
The number of tons passing through the port is up 22 percent from last year. Dean Haen is the port director. He says the ship totals are the same, but they can carry more because of the higher water on the Great Lakes.
The port opened about three months ago. The start of the season was delayed a bit because of ice on the Great Lakes. Haen says salt, petroleum products, and coal are some of the most common products to move through the port this year.
