The Green Bay school district will not renew a contact with a consultant to help improve Washington Middle School.
There’s been some progress at a troubled Green Bay school but not as much as administrators would like.
A former teacher quit two years ago after listing multiple problems at Washington Middle School.
District leaders made several changes including adding more counselors and a new principal. Associate Superintendent John Magas doesn’t think it was enough, and just adding people didn’t make the difference.
Magas says they did have fewer suspensions and scores in some areas did get better. The district partnered with a company to help improve the school over the last year. It cost more than $300,000. Some officials don’t think the company did enough to justify the cost.
