The Outagamie County court system is using apology letters to help juvenile offenders and their victims move on.
Between sixty and seventy percent of the young people write some sort of apology letter for shoplifting, vandalism, simple assault and other crimes.
Youth and Family Services Supervisor Scott Kornish says social workers help identify the kids who would benefit the most from writing a letter.
He says the idea is to understand there was a victim, they impacted that person and they need to repair it.
Kornish says the letter can help the young person and the victim move on.
