Now that there’s money in the state budget for the I-41 expansion between the Fox Cities and De Pere, planning is underway.
DOT Project Manager Tom Buchholz believes it will be five to seven years before construction will start.
He says lawmakers took an unusual step by adding the project to the budget. He says they circumvented the normal approval process. Buchholz says they typically finish an environmental study and put together cost estimates before bringing plans to lawmakers.
Buchholz hopes to have an environmental team together and working by next year. He’s also leading the Highway 10-441 project, and it’s expected to be finished by November 1st.
Buchholz was a guest on AM Fox Valley this morning.
