A developer is proposing to the first apartment building project on the west end of College Avenue in downtown Appleton.
The plans call for tearing down three vacant buildings across the street from the former Thompson Community Center in the 800 block of West College.
Community Development Director Karen Harkness says it would be a four-story project. She says the buildings have been vacant a number of years, so they’re excited to bring the site back to the community.
Three housing projects are moving forward on the east end of College Avenue. The city’s Community and Economic Development Committee will take up the proposal today. The city could provide nearly $825,000 in TIF money.
