A developer of a proposed apartment building in downtown Appleton is hoping to spark more projects on the west end of College Avenue.
There are plans for a four-story building with about 20 apartments. Kip Golden of CR Structures is involved with the plans to tear down three vacant buildings across the street from the former Thompson Community Center.
Golden believes they’ll be able to attract young professionals and retirees interested in living downtown. He says while they won’t be right by many of the bars and restaurants it’s within walking distance.
The city’s community and economic development committee signed off on a development agreement yesterday. It includes about $825,000 in TIF money from the city.
