The outgoing head of the FAA says there’s no timeline to get the 737 MAX airliner back into service.
The jet is grounded after two crashes that were caused by computer software that actively countered the pilot’s attempts to avoid a stall during takeoff.
FAA Acting Director Dan Elwell was at EAA AirVenture yesterday. He says Boeing will have to prove the plane is safe before it can fly again. He says they’re following the process, and there isn’t a timeline for when it will be done.
The 737 is the most common airliner in the U.S. Boeing had orders for hundreds of the MAX models to replace aging fleets.
