A 31-year-old woman is dead, and her husband was seriously hurt, when they fell to the bottom of a quarry, west of Winneconne.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were called the quarry along Highway D, near the Hill Tavern, around 9 p.m. today.
They say the couple from Oshkosh went to the top ridge of the nearby quarry. There’s a 40 to 50 foot drop to the bottom, and a friend later found them there.
The husband is also 31, and he was flown by helicopter to ThedaCare’s hospital in Neenah. Deputies don’t think the two were familiar with the terrain in that area.
