While central bankers from around the wold convened this week, President Trump was tweeting up a storm. He trained his ire in part on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who he thinks is damaging the economy with inaction, but he also exacerbated the trade war with China, prompting them to increase retaliatory tariffs.
And out of all of this, the political press chose to focus on a funny turn-of-phrase that they said showed he is the real socialist. When Trump “hereby ordered” American companies to begin seeking alternatives to doing business in China he revealed a lot. Josh concludes that the tariffs and trade war aren’t going away any time soon, and based on the numbers voters don’t seem to mind at all.
