Fox Valley Metro police say the suspect in a chase died, after police shot him in Kaukauna.
Lt. Mark Wery says the person was driving erratically on I-41, and Appleton police started the chase around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Officers called it off for safety reasons, before Fox Valley Metro officers spotted the driver on Highway N in Little Chute.
Wery says the driver was running traffic lights, and ignoring other laws, until crashing near the intersection of Highways 55 and OO in Kaukauna.
He says the person was shot while officers were trying to arrest him.
Police aren’t releasing any details about the driver. The person died after being taken to a hospital.
The state justice department is handling the investigation because it was a police shooting.
