There’s a proposal to create a lifetime fishing license in the state.
Republican Rep. Ron Tusler of Harrison wants to charge people 30-times the current annual fee of $19.75. That adds up to just over $575.
Tusler believes it would be one less thing to worry about every year.
Tusler says they would put all of the money from the lifetime licenses into a new trust fund. Every year, the DNR would get one-30th of the total amount. He says that would ensure the agency doesn’t get an influx of money in a certain year, and less in future ones.
